Vanessa’s Wedding
Hey Everyone!!
Today I wanted to share some photos of the floral display I created for Vanessa’s wedding at the Vancouver Urban Winery last weekend! She had a very earthy natural looking wedding so instead of using vases for the centerpieces down the long wooden tables Corrine from Filosophi came up with a great idea of just using sticks instead that we found in the forest! It took me a long time but I drilled many holes in each of these sticks so we could place water picks in them to add floral!

I tried to use as many flowers as I could that were in Vanessa’s bouquet that Garden Party Flowers made so nicely!!! I ordered beautiful white Ohara garden roses that had a very subtle blush pink center, white spray roses, dusty miller, seeded eucalyptus, white dahlias, lady’s mantle and bruins! I’m really obsessed with garden roses these days…it’s probably tied as my favourite flower with the ranunculus! I really love working with eucalyptus because it drapes so nicely and so I used it as a base to form most of my floral arrangements. The ladies mantle is a great addition as well because it gives the arrangements a little whimsy look to it!

I didn’t need to put the eucalyptus in the water picks for the display….thank god because the water picks are very tiny and can only hold a few stems! Amy from Garden Party Flowers in Vancouver is probably the nicest lady ever…she let me store the flowers in her cooler and not only that she collected all the water picks for me…I am so incredibly thankful!!!

I love the concept that Corrine came up with, it was exactly what Vanessa had envisioned her wedding to look like! I loved all the details that they came up with so putting it all together the day of was so much fun!!
We first added a burlap table runner and then layered the moss that Corinne ordered from Portland down the two long wooden tables. I then arranged all the floral sticks on top of that!

We then added tons and tons of candles in different sizes and heights all the way down the table!

I hope you enjoyed this!!! Who needs vases when you can just use wood for your floral??
This is what happens when people think outside of the box to make a wedding truly unique and Corinne really made it happen for Vanessa’s wedding! I was so happy to be apart of it! Congrats to Vanessa and Ryan!!!
Hope you are having a fantastic week!

Pink ombre party!
Happy Tuesday everyone!! I hope you had a wonderful weekend ;) I have a very pink party to share with you today! I kinda went all out on this style shot for Danica’s ombre placemats! I just kept adding more and more pink in different shades! This is a little extreme I know but it would be so perfect for a girly party!
I even baked the cake myself…but it didn’t work out as planned but who really cares when it’s a layered ombre cake!!!

If you want to recreate the same mini cakes just follow this tutorial on the Oh Happy Day blog http://ohhappyday.com/2012/02/mini-cakes-diy/ …but instead of just doing one colour separate the cake batter into three different bowls and add your desired amount of food colouring to make the colours go from light to dark!

BBQ PARTY!
Are you planning a BBQ sometime soon?? Well here are some ideas you can add to your party to make it supah cute!!
The party you see below was my practice pretend BBQ party to style a placemat! When I plan a styled shot with lots of details I usually do a mock up of it the day before! I was on the hunt for anything and everything manly to make these placemats look great!

BBQ parties are the best and I think anything mini is the best too! That’s why I decided to make some pulled pork mini sliders for this party and brown parchment paper cones to hold the chips! For decor behind the shot I wanted to add bar snacks and other things that would go with a manly pulled pork slider like peanuts, pepperoni, more beer, pickles, bbq sauce, steak rub, burlap and pieces of wood! I would like to actually make this into a real party this summer!

Have a BBQ this weekend and make cute mini things for your guests! They will love it!

We’re going to be on 100 layered cake!!!!
YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!! I have great news on this wonderful Sunday morning!! I was invited to help design and craft for a spring styled shoot back in April and I’m so excited to say that the popular blog 100 layered cake will be featuring the shoot around July 20th!!! Jenna Smith from Revel Events was so nice to invite me in on this one…she was so fun to work with and we both have very similar tastes when it comes to decor! Here’s a little sample of what to look out for in July on 100 layered cake…

I made so many wonderful new friends during this shoot and I’m currently working on another shoot that will be a makeup & hair tutorial by Emily Cheng in July and the awesome Gucio Girls are going to be shooting it (Gucio photography shot my wedding)! You are probably thinking..Natalie doesn’t do hair and makeup?? Well Emily ask me to help her with a backdrop for the tutorial so that’s where I come in handy…and I have a great idea!!!!
Hope your Sunday is better now knowing this wonderful new…hahah! Mine is!!!!

10 Year Reunion Chalkboard Photo Booth Backdrop!!!
I’ve been very busy working away the final details for our 10 year grad reunion with my friends this week! I just finished up the really COOL chalkboard backdrop for the photo booth yesterday and it’s a very easy project to do!! It’s a lot of fun to have a chalkboard as a backdrop because it allows everyone at the party to write whatever they want on it!
What you need:
* Chalkboard paint (it doesn’t have to be black, you can make it yourself out of whatever colour you want!)
* roller
* 4’ by 8’ piece of plywood
* Chalk
START ROLLING! Open up that chalkboard paint and start painting it right on the piece of plywood!

Once you’re done let it dry for about 2 hours….

Now create a nice graphic design for whatever party you are having! I recreated this look and design from a soap package I had at home ! If you are going for this look mix some cursive writing with bold tall writing and add some banners and lines into it for something extra! It came out a weeeee bit lopsided but I like it when things aren’t so perfect ;)

We are going with the school theme and having lots of chalkboards around for signs, library cards for drink tickets, black & white yearbook votives and book page garlands! I made a post last year for inspiration on my reunion here..

The reunion is happening this Saturday at the Narrows Pub in North Vancouver and I’m super excited to see everyone!
Have a Wonderous Wednesday!!!

I can’t believe it’s already been a year already!!!!! Well technically on May 27th…but I’m doing a special post today because we’ll be away for the weekend at my cabin to celebrate! I year married and I love him even more than I did last year…and that was a lot!!!!! This post will get a little sentimental just to warn you..ahah! I would just like to say some nice things about my husband Jason!
Jason you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You are the most loving, generous, kind person that constantly supports me in everything I do..I mean constantly!!! You are hands down the funniest guy I know and you keep me entertained whenever I’m with you. I can’t get enough of you, if I could I would hang out with you every hour of the day everyday ;) I’m still so madly in love with you and I hope wonderful things will happen for us in the years ahead! We’re the greatest team!
I thought I would share some of my favorite pics of Jason and I on our wedding day last year…shot by the wonderful ladies of Gucio Photography!!

I love you soo soo much Jason! So happy to be married to you!
