Home Inspiration- Black & White

So I’ve fully done a 180 in the last 2 weeks and I find myself hating everything I have decorated in my house that is rustic. This is a problem because everything….I mean everything in my house is rustic…

I’ve been a very very busy girl and have almost totally rearranged my entire house with the help of my loving husband…I can’t believe he puts up with my craziness all the time!

The photos below were some of my inspiration and it clearly shows that I’m obsessed with black and white now :) I’m kinda loving modern looking furniture too which I never thought was possible!!! There is nothing better now than clean white walls with white furniture with black accents :)

I would love it if I had millions of dollars to redecorate my whole house and change all the furniture but I don’t so I’m working with most of the furniture I already have….and painting lots of it white…which my husband does not like..ahah! He keeps saying it’s an insane asylum! I hate it when men ruin it for you when you’re all excited about how you decorated a space!

We have been making frequent trips to ikea for some new furniture, shelving and decor items and I think our house is looking a lot better! I will post photos of it when it’s all finished along with Penny’s nursery tour!

The beautiful thing about having everything white in your house is that you can add any colour accent you want to your space and remove it when you get tired of it!

Hope you enjoyed the black and white!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Inspiration for styling ;)

I seem to be on pinterest a lot lately getting inspiration for upcoming styled shoots! I’ve found so many lovely photos so far that make me want to build forts, construct swinging beds, plan a photo shoots in Greece (wish!) and paint pink walls!!

Who doesn’t want a swinging bed?? AMAZING!! I might have to ask my husband to make me one for the backyard….it’s just too perfect for afternoon naps!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

I LOVE MESSY FLORALS!!!

There is something so beautiful about messy floral arrangements! The look is so refreshing, natural and calming :) I think I can no longer stand the tight round perfect bouquet anymore, it has to have some character to it…some sprigs flying out…it has to be wild!

I’ve been pinning lots of floral arrangements lately and these pictures I’ve posted have inspired me so much….I can’t wait to create some of my own!!!

Not an arrangement but a really sweet floral instillation ;)

I hope this inspires you as well!! Having a beautiful arrangement in your house can really add beauty and life to a room….now go nag your husband/boyfriend to go buy you some flowers!

Most of these arrangements are created by the wonderful florists of BOWS + ARROWS

New Crafting Projects!!

I’ve been pining lots on pinterest lately, craft projects in particular… and I’ve got some neat new DIY crafts I wish to create very soon!

I really want to get into making some jewellery…the necklace below is so easy to make and it’s basically recycled from an old beaded necklace…which I have a lot of! My grandma always wore beaded necklaces…in every colour imaginable and she gave them all to me so I have lots to work with!

The second jewellery making project I want to make are these cute threaded beaded rainbow bracelets! I want to make tons of these, I never accessorize my wrist so it needs some glamour and of course I’ll make some for my friends….they are the new friendship bracelet!

I’m loving these paper ranunculus too! These would be great for a wedding!

I don’t know about you but I can’t get enough of chalkboard paint…I always have a jug handy….I paint everything with it..in my last house I painted the whole fridge with chalkboard paint!

These coffee cups are too cute and they need to be in my cupboard right now!

Dipped anything is on my list for crafting at the moment! I need to find bamboo cutlery though….anyone know where I can find these in Vancouver??

Wishing I had a little girl to make one of these for!

Have a WONDERFUL wednesday everyone!!!!

What is on your crafting list??

10 Year Grad Reunion!

So it’s official…I’m really old  and this year will be 10 years since I graduated high school…shizah! We were waiting around for someone to step up and plan it but there were no takers and somehow we got suckered into planning the high school reunion..which is kinda exciting since I like decorating and planning parties so much! Now, I usually hear lots of people speak negatively of high school and how terrible it was but to be completely honest I’m super pumped and looking forward to seeing everyone and finding out what everyones up to! I thought we had a awesome grad class! My girlfriends and I met up the other day and brainstormed some ideas for this event! I had some ideas for decorations to bring to the table that I wish to share with you today!

The first idea that I’ve been waiting to use forever is this yearbook mason jar votive idea that I found on a beautiful mess blog http://abeautifulmess.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/11/yearbook-votive-diy.html

It’s very simple and it involves my favourite thing….MOD PODGE! You simply just copy your old year book photos in black & white, cut and paste them on with mod podge and add a candle inside! Instant high school reunion party greatness! Since everyone always hates their photos this will be hilarious….braces galore!

My girlfriends and I plan to go to The Regional Assembly of Text that is 5 minutes away in my favourite area, Mount Pleasent! This is a stationary lovers dream store, you’ll want to buy everything because it’s so gosh darn cute!

We plan to make everyone in our grad class a vintage button pin which will have their old year book photo on it and their name typed with a old type writer! This will be much better than the usual HELLO MY NAME IS…sticker. I think this is a fun idea and it’s something that they can take home and keep for memories! They are just 50 cents to make at the store… a fun crafting day I’m looking forward to!

I had the idea of taking vintage book pages and making them into garlands…to then string and display a huge mess of them all over the pub! This is a very inexpensive idea if you have lots of unwanted beat up books laying around! I feel like I want to raid Seycove and cut up every history book they have…it was not my favourite subject ;(

And we obvs have to have a chalkboard backdrop for the photo booth! This idea is supah fun because you can change the background when you want to and have everyone sign or write down a memory from high school!

Thinking of making a drink special…..Wildcat anyone?? This was the drink of choice back in the day….it’s strong, cheap and has a wildcat on the can…need I say more??

Or maybe some Mikes Hard Lemonade Ladies?? Hmmmmmm? It kinda makes me want me want to vomit just looking at this picture..ahahh!

What are your ideas for a high school reunion??!

I still have many more that I will post soon!

I need to go to the gym now…got to get this body in shape! I don’t want to pull a Romie and Michelle!

Michelle Williams!

I was watching the oscars last night with my husband and I couldn’t get over how amazing Michellle Williams dress was….the red, the layers, the diamond BOW!!!

I truly love this girls style….her dresses are a hit for me every award show or movie premier she goes to….

Love this mustard dress with a bold red lip!

Red lace….gorgeous!

I hope you enjoyed the oscars last night!

Inspiration for my next tattoo ;)

I really really want another tattoo and I’ve been thinking about these tattoos that I’m going to show you for about a year now! I find if you like a tattoo idea for as long as a year then get it! Spur of the moment tattoos are not so good…you might end up regretting it..so think about it for a long time before you commit!!!!

I’m slowly getting used to the pain of a tattoo, the first initial time the needle hits the skin it’s not so fun and you want to back out and say, ” just kidding,”… but then you just have to think of how pretty it’s going to look so it’s worth all that pain!

So here are some ideas I’ve been thing about:

First is a russian doll tattoo ( a.k.a matryoshka dolls)….and it’s too perfect because first of all they’re sweet…and second of all my background is RUSSIAN!

These tattoos look great on the arm!

Now Russian dolls you see below all have a sad face…this I would not do…mine would definitely have big smiles on them with pink cheeks! I like the idea of having 3 dolls in different sizes going down your arm….it’s kinda like my sisters and I! I did asked my sisters if they wanted to all get russian dolls and if they wanted to tattoo them biggest to smallest…but my big sister wasn’t too psyched on the plan of having the biggest one..darn!

The vintage typewriter is the best because I’m in love with my vintage typewriter! I use it all the time…I love it so much that I even individually typed out every person’s address on the invitation envelopes for my wedding…just because I like the look..ahha!

but just because I like typewriters doesn’t mean I should tattoo it on myself. Also I don’t even know where I could even put this tattoo on my body? It looks a little funny on the arm don’t you think? ….so I guess I’ll scrap this idea!

I simply have to love the idea of having a vintage singer sewing machine as a tattoo.  I’ve actually wanted this one for more than a year…I want it on my arm! Or just a spool of thread with a needle would be really cute!

This Morrisey tattoo idea wouldn’t be for me……don’t freak out..ahhah! I wanted to show you the one that Jason wants to get!! I LOVE IT!

I’ve always also wanted a mermaid tattoo…OBVIOUSLY not one that is this skanky but I like the look of the old school style mermaid! I like everything about this one except I would get rid of her but crack and put some Ariel shells on those boobies.

What do you guys think? Let me know which one you like!!

What tattoo do you want next?

Wedding inspiration ;)

I have to give another big thank you to the ladies at 100 layer cake again because they did an awesome job picking out all the best photos from our wedding yesterday! Also we are very honoured to have been featured on their blog….THANK YOU!

I haven’t looked at my wedding photos in a while and when I saw them yesterday it filled me up with more inspiration of other wedding ideas! I wanted to share some of the pictures I’ve pinned on my pinterest wedding board lately!

Ranunculus! Probably the best flower…my fave! It’s like a cross between a rose and a peony flower! They are also in season in the spring…which is coming up pretty quick!

All the colours in this photo go together so well!

Lights, lights and more lights! Sting lights are a must when the sun goes down and the party starts…they just make everything so pretty! This would be a great backdrop for a couple to get married in front of in a night wedding!

Just love everything about this wedding….the dress, the hair, the headpiece and even the cute colour blinds they have in the background!

Also the display is just amazing….lots of work went into that I bet!

Below is a Rapunzel engagement shoot…and it’s such a great idea..here’s the link

http://greenweddingshoes.com/

Really cool way to make a sign…..twine and nails ;)

BOOK DISPLAY!

I think balloons aren’t used enough in weddings….everyone thinks about birthdays when using balloons but I think if you blew up a massive amount of them in one room (like a reception!) it would look so great!

Below are some of the greatest ideas for ways to use balloons!

Someone please make these at your wedding!

I’m not a big fan of pink but this floral arrangement is beautiful, also a great arrangement for a valentines party!!!!

How sweet is this….real flowers taped to the wall!

Twine lanterns for a outdoor wedding!!!! These are really easy to make…just make them like you would with paper mache but use twine instead of newspaper!

Thought this was really cute for a wedding favour made by the bride and groom :) I found this one on www.designsponge.com

Well I hope you enjoyed some of my wedding pins!

Have a wonderful WEDNESDAY!!!!
