DIY pillow made from an old coat!

I have an easy sewing project for you to try out this rainy weekend! It’s a pillow made from an old jacket! No need to go out and buy new fabric for this project, just go find an old coat or sweater with a color and design you like that you don’t wear anymore!

What you need:

* Sewing machine    * scissors    * Thread     * hand stitching needle     * piece of paper to trace out the pillow      * poly fill

Step 1 : Lay out your coat on a flat surface and grab your piece of paper. You can make your pillow any size or shape you would like, just cut out a template from the piece of paper and use it to cut the fabric.

Step 2: Once you cut half of your shape…fold the fabric over and then cut the other half using the fabric you already cut as a guide :) This will make it match up nicely!

Step 3: Now cut two of them!

Step 4: Face the right sides in and line the fabric edges up! You can pin the edges so they will be secure but I never do that….I just freestyle! Now start sewing the edges together with a 1/2 inch seam. Don’t forget to leave an opening at one corner to fill it!

Step 5: Now fill it up with stuffing!

Step 6: Hand stitch the corner shut :)

DONE!!!

I want to try this next with a sweater to cozy up my living room! I made this one for my friend KIM!

Sew yourself a cutie little pillow this weekend!
